Mediterranean Sea Basin

Mediterranean Sea Basin

Banana, Avocado, Mango, Sweet Alyssum, Calendula, Lavender, Wood-Sorrels, Cactus, Annona, Orange, Olive, Cypress, Malva, Fig, Carob, Palm, Apple, Pomegranate, Guava, Mustard, Vine, Thyme, Eucalyptus, Licorice, Aloe Vera. These are the plants that surround the house of the good friend that my father met through Facebook and whose family we visited this weekend in a village in Southern Spain. It means that when I went for a walk in the rural trails I could feel completely at home, the Mediterranean Sea spreading till the horizon underneath, and not only thanks to the Fig and the Olive and the Vine and the Pomegranate, but also thanks to the tropical Annona and the Mango and the Avocado and the Banana, which feel completely at home both in Spain and in Israel, and which came to the Mediterranean basin some time after The Biblical Seven Species, on the one hand, and some time before the merchants and the slaves and the immigrants and the nomads and the pirates and the discoverers and the commanders and the poets brought Facebook to the Mediterranean basin, on the other hand.
