The Persimmon Tree

The Persimmon Tree

I was walking in a Zen garden in Kyoto right before sunset. I took a round walk around the pool and upon exiting a canopy of autumn foliage I saw a tree with persimmons of the most stunning phosphoric orange color imaginable. I didn’t know what to do with myself. It was completely opposite to the idea of Zen – I HAD to have it. I took two pictures but knew it was nothing. No camera in my hands could ever catch that color. I left it behind, like the rest of Kyoto. Couldn’t carry it with me and couldn’t let go.
